Gaia's kittens were born on March 27, 2026. It is Gaia's second litter, and just like with her first litter, the father of the kittens is Amadi from cattery African Savannah.

Birth and the first week after the birth

After a smooth pregnancy, the first signs of labor began on the evening of March 26, one day after the due date. After a restless night, the kittens were born early in the morning of March 27 at 04:55, 6:05, and 6:22.

The kittens were immediately cleaned by Gaia and started nursing soon after birth. After a brief check, they turned out to be three female kittens with a nice birth weight around 100 grams.

Mother and daughters are doing very well during the first week. Gaia recovered quickly from the delivery, and the kittens are gaining weight sufficiently and are being well cared for. Gaia is a fantastic mother.

A few days after the birth, it was time to come up with names for the kittens. Together with my own daughters, I busied myself with lists of names of gods, cats, and Disney and movie characters. Eventually, we settled on the names Nami, Kira, and Luna .

Week 2

In the second week, the eyes begin to open little by little, but their vision still needs to develop over the coming weeks. The kittens are still completely dependent on Gaia. The kittens are starting to move around more and more, but are still unsteady on their paws.

In week 2, the kittens were professionally photographed for the first time by the photographers from Zusjes Portegies. The Zusjes Portegies are friends of the cattery who enjoy taking photos of our cats and kittens. Most of the photos on our website were also taken by the Zusjes Portegies. Below you can see the cutest photo of Luna, Kira, and Nami.

Week 3

In week 3, the first milk teeth break through and the kittens are already starting to walk a little. The video below shows that the kittens have grown well again and that their ears are also starting to stand up a bit straighter.

At SavVal cattery, we consider good socialization very important. We start this early on. My children play a major role in the socialization of the kittens. From an early age, the kittens grow up surrounded by the sounds of children and are held from a young age. This way, the kittens learn that children are not scary, but can actually be very fun and wonderful companions.

Week 4

In the fourth week, the kittens are becoming increasingly aware of their surroundings and curious about anything that moves. Their sight and hearing continue to develop and improve. Additionally, more milk teeth are coming through. This week, we started with a kitten pâté porridge and the first deworming treatment.

Over the coming weeks, we will practice with solid food and potty training. In addition, we will continue socializing the kittens.

Through our blog and social media, we keep you updated on the developments and adventures of our kittens Kira, Luna, and Nami.
