Apollo continues to grow and grow and by the end of week 5 he weighs more than five times his birth weight. He is very curious and is increasingly learning about his environment and what is happening around him. In week 4 we put a puppy pen around the maternity ward/bench so that Apollo has a larger, safer space to play and explore. He loves playing with his mother here.
Developments week 4 and 5
Developments are moving at a rapid pace and for weeks 4 and 5 these are:
Apollo's ears, which were small and folded just after birth, are increasingly standing up. His sight and hearing are developing further and are getting better and better. And more and more baby teeth are coming through.
Apollo has been introduced to kitten meat and kitten kibble in these two weeks. In the beginning we soaked the meat in kitten milk, but now he also eats it without milk. He gets the kibble soaked in lukewarm water . This took some getting used to, but after two days they were also eaten enthusiastically.
Getting to know other rooms in the house and housemates
In the previous blogs you could read that Apollo was allowed to meet the other cats in the house. In the meantime, Apollo has also met our Swiss White Shepherd puppy Akylo. They were allowed to see each other for the first time and come close to each other. Our puppy really enjoyed this. He was very enthusiastic, which was sometimes a bit exciting for Apollo. In addition to meeting Akylo, Apollo was also allowed to explore other spaces these weeks. Apollo is a real adventurer and went everywhere with great enthusiasm. Gaia found this a lot more exciting than her son.
Visit of the photographer
In week 4 we had a visit from RT Photography. They took several beautiful pictures of Apollo. For the photo session we tempted Gaia with some nice wet food so we could take beautiful pictures of her son. Just look at the fantastic result below.
